MAHO formed in March 1998 first had its secretariat
located at Wisma HLA (now Wisma MPL), Jalan Raja Chulan (registered address).
It later moved to Hotel Istana along the same road in the same office
as PERNAS Hotel Chain Holdings Sdn Bhd. The secretariat and the affairs
of the association is managed by an Executive Director. The first Executive
Director was Encik Zamhot Hassan formerly a director with Tourism Malaysia.
In 2000, the secretariat moved to 21st, Menara Tun Razak, Jalan Raja Laut
before moving to the present premise in June 2003. When Zamhot retired
in July 2001 after serving MAHO for 2 years he was succeeded by Encik
Shaharuddin M. Saaid.
Shaharuddin has an extensive experience and career in
the tourism industry having worked in a couple of travel agencies for
a total of 4 years and with an international airline, Japan Air Lines
for 21 years (1976-1997). His past working experience especially in sales,
marketing and public relations has been an asset to his current position
by having well established relevant connections and networking contacts
in the industry and with relevant ministries and government establishments.
